They have sex to procreate and raise children. They have sex to express other attractions they may feel for a partner. They have sex simply because it feels good, and they enjoy the psyhical sensations. You can have sex without experiencing sexual attraction.

Sexual attraction is like being hungry for pizza. You know you're hungry, and you know exactly what you're hungry for. You don't want hamburgers. You don't want tacos. Yot want pizza. Your hunger has a direction, and that direction is the nearest Domino's. Libido is like just being generally hungry. You know you want to eat something, but you're not sure what. If you had pizza, that would be fine. But if you just had trail mix, that would be fine, too. You would also be fine if you didn't eat anything. Książka napisana dla osób badających swoją potencjalną aseksualność. Autor używa tutaj bardzo przystępnego języka często wspomagając się osobistymi przykładami. Stanowi idealny początek na drodze do poznawania tej części siebie. Jednak samo wyjaśnienie czym jest aseksualność lub czym jest pociąg seksualny to tylko początek. Autor wyjaśnia m.in różnicę między popędem płciowym a libido (czyli coś nad czym każdy powinien się zastanowić choć raz w życiu). Daje rady co do negocjacji intymności w związku, jak zdefiniować własne granice w tym zakresie i omówić je z partnerem. Jednak to co podoba mi się najbardziej w książce to niejednokrotne przypominanie czytelnikowi aby nie przepraszać za to kim się jest. Bycie asem nie oznacza, że coś jest z tobą nie tak, nie jest to coś co musisz w sobie zmienić ani naprawić. Wypełniające książkę słowa wsparcia dają poczucie komfortu i pomagają budować dumę z bycia asem. Książka warta polecenia nie tylko dla osób będących w trakcie poszukiwania swojej tożsamości, ale też dla osób chcących poznać/zrozumieć kim jest osoba aseksualna i co to konkretnie znaczy. Mam ogromną nadzieję, że zostanie kiedyś przetłumaczona na język Polski ♡
