Pisze książki: reportaż
Danny Collins is a Londoner, born of an Irish father and an English mother in Fulham. At 16 he left a 'boring' engineering course at Twickenham Technical College - he wanted to study art but his more practical father insisted that all artists were homosexuals and died in garrets - and joined the Mercantile Marine as a deck boy, travelling extensively to Africa, Australasia, the USA, and South America. Aged 19 he hitch hiked across the entire United States from
Virginia to the Gulf of Calfornia. He has worked as a deck hand, bus driver, factory hand, cub reporter, Congo war correspondent, and eventually leased a Buckinghamshire nightclub where he met his wife Nikki, a professional dancer, with whom he moved to Spain in 1990, eventually becoming deputy executive editor of an English language newspaper group before taking early retirement to write in 2004. Since then, as a freelance investigative journalist he has worked the crime-ridden costas of Spain from Castellon to Gibraltar, investigating some of the most horrendous crimes of the 21st century, leading to such books as Nightmare in the Sun, the story of an English couple who were kidnapped and brutally murdered while house hunting on the Costa Blanca, and Vanished - the Truth About the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann in neighbouring Portugal. He shares a 16th century house in a mountain village in the Sierra de Aitana with his wife, whom he identifies as his chief organiser, and lists his hobbies as reading - his book reviews are published weekly in the Costa Blanca's RTN newspaper - siestas, and converting Lagavullin malt whisky and his favourite Ribero del Duero wines into urine. For 13 years until November 2009 he wrote the Gilly Beaumont Brit Scene syndicated column for the CBN newspaper group. His next book, Crimes That Shocked the World, will be published in July 2010 and a fiction thriller is in preparation.
