Blades of Destiny Ben Francis Cotterill
9,0
" [...] I see great pain in your future and for that I am sorry. Darkness will try to pollute your mind. But your soul and heart are pure. So long as you try to keep them this way, the light will prevail. [...]"
It was my first encounter with Ben Cotterill's work. The e-book "Blades of Destiny" captivated me from the very beginning. Its plot is delightful, the action is fast-paced, and the characters are very brave. The ending was very interesting. I liked the descriptions of places and situations in which the main characters found themselves. Important figures include:
- Aaron, who is a newbie. He was given a secret mission. Will he deliver the mysterious gold tablet to the Sanctuary? What will he discover while translating it? How did Aaron become a master architect? Will he find his beloved Clara?
- Eric is a monk. He will be Aaron's companion on a secret mission. Will they both get along? - Sin, chairman of the Omi council. He took great pleasure in giving orders and humiliating people. He was satisfied with this.
- With the heroine Rella, we go back in time 10 years. The monk Guin treated her sick mother. Did he save her life, or rather contributed to her death? Rella is the governor's daughter and she tells the complete truth. Someone really doesn't like this. He lives in a palace.
- Monk Guin is a master of medicine and represents the Creator.
- General Karmeeleon is a green lizard with red eyes who walks on two legs and wears green armour. He makes sure that all Omi laws in Tyrell are fulfilled. He is a strict general. You can be afraid of him.
- Cyllene was hurt by him for 10 years. How? You will find out while reading this book. This shocked me deeply. The lizard had a profound effect on the girl. He literally brainwashed her with his sick religion.
- Her brother Tyrell has seen through the general and knows that Karmeeleon is no good. Will joining the rebels against Omi be beneficial? I was worried about that boy.
This novel takes us to the years 221 and 231. I didn't mind the time jumps. They gave this story an interesting character.
Are you ready to face the Omi Enforcers? Watch out for them. Beware of them. I'd love to check out Ben Cotterill's other works. I secretly hope that I will hear about the characters in this book again someday. If you like fantasy and science fiction stories, you shouldn't miss this title.
