Man can make only the rules. He cannot make the laws, which are the laws of nature. It is understanding of these laws that enables a student to draw. His difficulty will never be lack of ability to draw, but lack of understanding.

Człowiek może tworzyć tylko reguły. Nie ma wpływu na prawo, jakim jest prawo natury. Zrozumienie tych praw daje studentowi możliwość sprawnego rysowania. Natomiast problemy jakie napotka (podczas nauki rysunku) nie będą skutkiem braku sprawności do rysowania, lecz jego braku zrozumienia.
