The Bright Ages. A New History of Medieval Europe Matthew Gabriele
6,5
Chciałabym - wzorem autorów - zwrócić uwagę na okładkę "The Bright Ages: A New History of Medieval Europe" przedstawiającą mozaikę gwiazd z mauzoleum Galli Placydii w Ravennie. Te same gwiazdy, na które patrzyła rzymska cesarzowa w V wieku, my możemy po dziś dzień podziwiać we Włoszech, a niegdyś patrzył na nie Dante Alighieri piszący "Boską Komedię". Ravenna i mozaika gwiazd rozpoczynają i kończą tę książkę, tak też nasza podróż trwa od V do XIV wieku, z drobną wzmianką późniejszych wydarzeń.
