A rocky cliff face, the tragic death of his father, a spell in a harsh young offenders’ institution and a promising military career cut short all leave Seb Faber’s prospects looking bleak. However, an unexpected and lucrative job offer in the City seems to point to a more secure future. Seb turns out to be a natural on the equities trading floor of the City’s oldest bank, and this success leads to his selection for a special project. To add to his change of fortune he falls in love, and deeply. But Seb’s personal antennae are picking up anomalies. Perhaps everything is not quite as it seems. As his suspicions grow, he becomes increasingly unsure about who he can trust. Then his whole world is turned upside down. Torn in all directions, Seb fights through the mists of despair to regain his self-control and sense of purpose. His final steps lead to dramatic and totally unforeseen events in the South African bush.

OPINIE i DYSKUSJE
" [...] You show me where you need to go. Then follow me. I will keep you safe. [...]"
I'll start by saying that I am delighted with the cover of H.C. Kingsmill Moore's debut novel entitled "Selection. Who chooses? The hunter or the hunted?". It is very wild. Up until about chapter thirty, the action of this book dragged on very much. My daughter stopped at chapter 25. I wondered why that was. I started reading this novel and I also wanted to put it on the shelf. Since it is a literary debut, I gave this author a second chance. And I will be honest, I did the right thing. The action developed beautifully. It even got to the point that tears were flowing. It was very dangerous. The main character Sebastian "Seb" Faber will go through a real cross in his life. I was surprised that he hasn't gone mad yet, after what he's been through. His behaviour is worth imitating. I'd like to know his further story. The action takes place in London, Geneva and South Africa. Will the former British army officer find his place in real life? I'm glad that H.C. Kingsmill Moore touched on a very important topic related to transplantation in his work. It's very important to help another person and share their organs with others when a loved one dies. The second important topic discussed in this book is strange and dangerous arrangements that can affect the entire family. It's worth being careful when getting to know some of the characters in this story. Don't be discouraged by the beginning of this book. Get through it and you'll get a more interesting story. The ending worried me a bit. I hope everything will be explained in the next part. If you like thrillers by debutants, read "Selection. Who chooses? The hunter or the hunted?".
