Codie Crowley told a scary story at a childhood slumber party that caused a mass hysteria, and she's been chasing that high ever since. When she isn't writing chilling fiction, she's probably out looking for ghosts in Salem, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband, their cat, and a collection of creepy dolls. " [...] When I close my eyes I see the same forest, but it's dark and I'm running from something. [...]"
The book starts with the main character, Annabel doesn't know where she is and how she got there. Then she finds her way to Fern, who gets Annabel into a mansion. The most funny thing I found is that Fern walk around the Resurrection Peak in slippers, as she is super creative and skilled with in fashion. I saw some chemistry between Sam and Annabel who helps her throughout the book. I wanted Annabel to really find her best friends Maura. There was plot twist after plot twist which kept me on my toes, which I personally really like, and it made me not want to put the book down. I think the author is trying to say through the book to keep your eyes open and maybe question things more. I'm hoping that the author will write the next book, and I'd love to see the next Halloween party and the adventure Annabel will have or maybe see the other characters explored more in depth. Over all I would recommend it to anyone who loves a thriller and to older teens.
Also, worthy of your attention is the great cover, which is slightly scary. So Halloween-like. It gives me goosebumps. This cover catches my eye. Bravo to its creator.
If you don't know Codie Crowley's books yet, I advise you to do so quickly.
