cytaty z książek autora "Louise Glück"
Pierwsze wspomnienie
w dzieciństwie, myślałam,
że ból znaczy:
jestem niekochana.
A znaczył, że ja kocham.
Meanwhile, writing answered all sorts of needs. I wanted to make something. I wanted to finish my own sentences.
Poems do not endure as objects but as presences. When you read anything worth remembering, you liberate a human voice, you release into the world again a companion spirit.
I read poems to hear that voice. And I write to speak to those I have heard.
Nienawidziłam być dzieckiem,
nie móc wybierać
ludzi, których kocham.
Nikt nie mógłby napisać powieści o tej rodzinie:
za dużo podobnych postaci. Poza tym same kobiety;
był tylko jeden bohater.
Teraz bohater nie żyje.
(from The Fire)
And you never say
Leave me
since the dead do not like being alone.
(from Baskets):
I ask you, how much beauty
can a person bear? It is
heavier than ugliness, even the burden
of emptiness is nothing beside it.
(from A Fantasy):
The widow sits on the couch, very stately,
so people line up to approach her, (...)
In her heart she wants them to go away.
She wants to be back in the cemetery,
back in the sickroom, the hospital. She knows
it isn't possible. But it's her only hope,
the wish to move backward. And just a little,
not so far as the marriage, the first kiss.
Nie bądź smutna, powiedział. Zaczęłaś własną podróż,
nie w świat jak twój przyjaciel, ale w głąb siebie i swoich wspomnień.
W miarę jak bledną, być może osiągniesz
tę godną zazdrości pustkę, do której
wpływają wszystkie rzeczy, jak do pustego kubka w Daodejing ...
Nie słuchajcie mnie; mam złamane serce.
Niczego nie widzę obiektywnie.
Znam siebie; nauczyłam się słyszeć jak psychiatra.
Gdy mówię z pasją,
wtedy najmniej można mi ufać.
