JAY ELLIOT is the CEO and Founder of Nuvel, Inc. (www.nuvelinc.com),a software company. He was the founder and chairman of Migo Software, Inc., a mobility software company, and inventor of its flagship product, Migo. Jay has more than thirty years of operations experience with such corporate giants as IBM, Intel, and Apple Computer.
He served as the Senior Vice President of Apple Computer responsible for all corporate operations plus overall corporate business planning reporting directly to Steve Jobs, Chairman of the Board, CEO, and co-founder of Apple. During his tenure at Apple, sales grew from $150 million to more than $3 billion. After graduating from college, Mr. Elliot joined IBM as a programmer working on the airline reservation system and moved into management in several key projects in the Disk drive development business, and eventually managed the 16,000-employee software division. Mr. Elliot left IBM to join Intel and at Intel was the director of the California operations. In the healthcare industry, Elliot was the chief executive officer of New Health Systems, a network technology group connecting physicians and payers to patients and affiliated hospitals. As part of the New Health plan, Mr. Elliot spent one year with the UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Computer Science Department helping to develop a software system for the operation of Tele-medical centers. Konkretnie opisana biografia Steve'a Jobsa. Kiedyś słyszałem opinie, że to tyran pracy, że mało kto chciałby z nim pracować itp. Tu jest to pokazane jak wyglądała ta praca, jakie miał oczekiwania, jak był skuteczny w w tym co robił. Jeśli ktoś chce osiągnąć sukces, wskazane by przeczytał tę książkę, by wiedzieć ile wysiłku i zaangażowania trzeba włożyć by były z tego efekty odpowiednie, które i tak nie są pewne. Jest też wiele cennych wskazówek jak można zarządzać firmą, choć to nie podręcznik z zarządzania. Warto przeczytać choćby dlatego, by mieć obraz jak powstaje coś co dla wielu wydawało się niemożliwe.

Fantastyczna książka. Sama esencja o Jobsie. Ale! To nie biografia Jobsa. To przewodnik po biznesie i branży informatycznej, opisany przez bardzo bliskiego współpracownika Steve'a - Jaya Elliota.
To duży plus np. wobec tzw. oryginalnych, autoryzowanych biografii jak np. książka Waltera Isaacsona. Nie potrzeba 700 stron, aby napisać same prawdziwe i interesujące fakty z historii firmy Apple. Książka raczej dla ludzi chcących poznać Jobsa i jego firmę jako wydarzenie w historii informatyki a nie rewolucję kulturową jabłkożerców.
Na kartach książki padają cenne porady biznesowe od Jaya, warto je sobie zapamiętać. Każdy sukces czy pomyłkę danej firmy autor potrafi osadzić na losach Steve'a Jobsa, ale nie tylko, oberwało się m.in. IBMowi, General Electric i Hewlett-Packardowi.
To biznesowy przewodnik z nutką biografii Jobsa, i to jest wielka zaleta tez pozycji książkowej. Elliot koryguje pewne nieprawdy na temat Jobsa i wyjaśnia jak było naprawdę. Nie jest to kolejny nudny klon losów Steve'a. Warto tą książkę sobie kupić.
