Chloe Price is not having a good time. Harrowed by recurring nightmares featuring her own violent death, missing Max and living in her truck, she could use a bit of luck. After a chance encounter with Izzie Margolis, she becomes the new manager for the up-and-coming band Drugstore Makeup. In the years since the split with Steph in Haven Springs, Izzie has recruited a full band to bolster her energetic sound and heartfelt lyrics. Chasing success and fighting for greater recognition, Drugstore Makeup find themselves on the cusp of their next big break.

So when Chloe kicks them out of their comfort zone, Izzie and the band enter a tornado of activity: writing and rehearsing fresh songs as they prepare to record an album, embarking on a tour of grimy live music venues to grow their fandom mosh pit by mosh pit, and vigorously debating the optimum ratio of band merchandise to sleeping bags in the back of their shared touring van.
